HISTORY

A região que hoje crresponde ao município de Afúa, alojava um sítio de propriedade da senhora Micaela Arcngêla Ferreira, com a Construção da Igreja de Nossa Senhora de Conceição, muitas pessoas se instalaram em volta da mesma, até que em 02 de outubro de 1889, o local recebeu a categoria de freguesia através 1.386. Em 2 de agosto de 1890 Afuá passou a condição de Vila através do Decreto nº 170. o Decreto 226 de 28 de novembro de 1890 criou a Comarca de Afuá e com a Lei 403 de 02 de maio de 1896, o referido município foi elevado a categoria de Cidade. Atualmente, constitui-=se da sede e do distrito da Vila Baturité.
